Summary

I am an enthusiastic, physically fit married male 55 with 3 adult children. I am a positive person who has been working in the agricultural industry for the past 35 years. The previous 14 years in the Irrigation industry in Ashburton and Timaru. Prior to that twelve years in partnership on a sheep and beef property in a management role. I am well versed in the many facades of skills involved with machinery and its maintenance. After a change in farm ownership I was after a change in career and settled in Ashburton with my family to start work at Plains Irrigators Ltd. For the past 5 years I have been living and based in Timaru. The past 5.5 years I have been the company's Survey and Design technician, initial survey through design and as built recording using Leica RTK GPS equipment. Prior to being Survey and Design I was an Irrigation Service Technician. I have many skills to adapt to any challenge and believe that I am a competent team player a quick learner and work in a safe and conscientious manner.

Accomplishments

  • In 2000 I consented and installed the first lot of K-Line irrigation in the Mackenzie.
  • My biggest work achievement would be the consenting to and eventual commissioning (2002) of the first centre pivot irrigator in the Mackenzie Basin. This was a huge breakthrough and a great sense of self achievement to see this project coming to fruition. This was backed up by installing a second pivot two years later.
  • 2005 Ballance Environment awards I was awarded a merit for pioneering work in irrigation in the Mackenzie Basin.
