I am at peace with the discomfort of my position as tauiwi, and look for ways to respond to the legacy of colonisation and to be part of the change that Pākehā must engage in to create a more just, equitable and respectful society in Aotearoa. Working alongside students, whānau and community, growing together in confidence and capability has been the focus of my many years as a kaiako and facilitator. I have a strong sense of social justice, an instinctive desire and ability to build relationships, and a deep belief in the power of language to bring about transformation. It is my strong belief that compassionate communication, service and leadership has the power to transform lives and society.
