Tre Kingsford

Night Shift at Alderson Poultry involved being part of a night team who would be dispatched to assigned farms to catch and transport chickens ( poultry ) back to Tegal for further processing. My Role involved a rotational cycle of shifts, including early, mid and late night starts, meeting at the Alderson Poultry yard and attending pre start plan meetings which involved covering the topics of night planning, schedules, PPE and personal safety before any job commences and before entering sheds. My Role included being very physically active and fit, spending 10-12 hours nightly working in hot conditions, sectioning up thousands of chickens by herding and controlling them with my team for caging and transportation. I am gentle with animals. We would usually attend an average of 3 farms per night. This role involved very clear and consistent communication among team members, strong focus and determination to meet the numbers required, again thousands of chickens, and a strong ability to not only listen, but to follow instructions. I believe i have built and honed these skills through my role.
