  • I began work at Ruru, based near lake Brunner during calving as a casual employee, and as Farm manger the past 2 seasons
  • everyday jobs, including milking, tractor work, collecting cows and calves, shifting stock, break fencing, animal health, and shed hygiene.
  • Manager duties in this role include land, animal, and staff management, animal health, management of dairy shed and farm technology systems, and day-to-day running of the farm with support from my superiors and business manager.
  • managing finances and technology including milk hub dts, Farm IQ, minda and company specific programs.
  • Coordinated the maintenance of farm equipment, machinery, buildings, fences, and other infrastructure.
  • Hired seasonal workers and provided training on safety protocols and use of equipment.

  • Todds was a high intensity dairy farm milking 600 cows on 200ha
  • My role included milking, calf rearing, animal health, shed hygiene and Maintenance, general farm Maintenance, spraying, fencing, tractor work (Fert spreading, PKE, rolling, etc.), and stock handling

  • The farm milked OAD all year round through a 22ASH, calving in autumn and spring
  • I would also carry out day to day duties including milking, break fencing and crop fencing, spraying, shed Maintenance, assisting in feeding out and stock handling
  • The organic farm supplied our own company, Oaklands milk, as well as businesses such as Fonterra and Applebey farms
