- Involved in playing rugby for 15 years. Coached North Canterbury representative teams fro Under 10 to Under 18's.
- On selection panel that oversaw the Sports grant allocation for the Hurunui Council for 10 years.

- Oversaw large projects while a member of Lions.
- Have been involved with the Amuri A & P show since I was 12years old (raising flag for show). For the last 40 years have been involved with the Amuri Show as President, Shed convenor. For the last 10 years I have been the Trade site organiser and Ring master. I was made a patron of the show 5 years ago.
- Trustee for the Amuri Health Board for 10 years. Helped oversee the building of their new Medical centre.
