Nursing is my career choice as caring for others with sincerity and empathy, comes second nature to me and is a characteristic of my personality that is well known amongst my family, friends and colleagues. The foundation of my nursing philosophy is the belief that quality nursing is based on knowledge in which I have gained through my studies, a commitment to ongoing education and a genuine need to help others. A holistic and patient centered focus is essential and all areas of a person’s life should be focused on including physiological, mental, spiritual and family. I believe that effective health care requires a whole health professional team working together to provide the best possible health outcomes. Effective communication between colleagues and client is of utmost importance and addressing cultural and individual needs of the client and family/whānau is vital.
