With a background in criminology, film, retail sales, and now court administration, I believe I'd bring a diverse blend of analytical thinking, communication skills, and adaptability. My current role at the Ministry of Justice in Wellington has strengthened my ability to manage sensitive information, work under pressure, and collaborate across teams, all of which I’m eager to apply in a more creative environment.
The role of Court Registry Officer has been the most engaging and impactful start to my career, offering a unique front-row seat to real world stories of human behaviour, justice, and societal impact. Over the past nine months at the District Court, I’ve developed strong communication and coordination skills through daily interactions with diverse stakeholders—from legal professionals and court staff to victims and defendants. This has sharpened my ability to manage complex information under pressure and deliver it clearly and sensitively. Being immersed in the justice system has deepened my passion for understanding real issues and my interest in how narratives are presented to the public. I’m now eager to bring this insight, along with my professional discipline, into a media-focused environment where I can contribute to meaningful content and effective communication.
My time at Pascoes The Jewellers strengthened my ability to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. I developed strong communication and conflict resolution skills while also learning the importance of maintaining strict security protocols and attention to detail when managing high-value stock and sensitive transactions.
As one of the Head Construction Labourerswith HR Labour, I played a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of our labour projects. My responsibilities included supervising a team of labourers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining the project's schedule and quality standards. My role as Head Construction Labourer was marked by consistency, on-time completion, and positive feedback from supervisors and colleagues. I am proud of my ability to lead teams effectively and deliver high-quality labouring work while ensuring safety and compliance.
Working in a completely different retail area compared to previous roles has allowed me to branch out to a wide variety of customers. Working at Bed Bath and Beyond has helped me adapt to all different kinds of customers and has allowed myself to adapt to many different types of people.
My focus in my time at Mitre 10 has been within the Power tools department. However, I have also occasionally worked in other departments such as Hardware, Houseware and Garden. Having worked in a large retail area in my earlier years allowed me to develop my social skills with customers and made it much easier to relate and converse with new people.
