Taylors contracting are a large civil contracting company that undertake projects across New Zealand. I completed my apprenticeship here and worked alongside a team of other mechanics carrying out repairs and maintenance on a large fleet comprising of:

> Hitachi excavators up to 90ton

> Volvo A30 and A25 ADT's

> Euclid and Volvo ridged dump trucks

> Cat, John Deere and Komatsu bulldozers

> John Deere graders

> Terex ts24 motor scrapers

> Scania road trucks

My experience includes:

• Performed extensive repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, steering systems, and other vehicle systems.
• Complete tear down, inspection and rebuild of track gear on diggers and bulldozers
• Complete tear down and rebuild of diesel engines
• Completed checklist of fluid levels, air filter, tire pressure, and more as part of service orders.
• Inspected and adjusted brakes, steering systems and wheel bearings to address related issues.
• Troubleshot electrical system issues accurately to reduce the likelihood of recurring problems down the line.
• Supported overall workshop efficiency by maintaining a clean, organized workspace and adhering to safety guidelines.

This job involved working for my father on an illuvial gold claim during school holidays and weekends. I operated Hitachi 28 and 35 ton excavators stripping topsoil off gold bearing gravels, and reinstating farmland after the ground had been mined.
