Summary

With over 20 years of experience in the wine industry, I am a passionate and innovative entrepreneur who founded and led Misty Cove Wine Group, a premium New Zealand wine producer and exporter, establishing itself in over 35 countries and becoming a top 15 winery of New Zealand. I have a strong background in commercial strategy, global sales and marketing, brand building, project management and key account management. I have successfully launched and grown multiple wine brands, established and maintained relationships with distributors, customers and suppliers across multiple global sectors, and created and executed strategic plans to increase sales, profitability, and visibility for key stakeholders. Following the recent sale of Misty Cove, I am looking for the next opportunity to utilise my experience and unique skills to collaborate with diverse and talented teams. As always, I am eager to continue to learn and challenge myself.

Work History

Chief Executive Officer

Misty Cove Wine Group Ltd
01.2008 - 09.2023
  • I spearheaded the company's journey from its inception, driving two highly successful rounds of funding, and ultimately achieving an unprecedented revenue and EBITA level at the time of my exit in 2023.
  • Total wine production increased from c.30,000L in 2008 to c.4,500,000L in 2023 and over 400 hectares under management.
  • Oversaw, negotiated, and secured over 260 hectares of vineyards with MyFarm Investments Ltd's syndicated equity of over $60 million, establishing the backbone of Misty Cove's supply chain through establishing long-term leases.
  • Established a key strategic European "Hub," which greatly enhanced market accessibility and rapidly increased opportunities in the European Supermarket, Cash & Carry, and Importer bases.
  • Led the global brand vision, design, marketing and, importantly, the "story", including several brand refreshes.
  • Launched key initiatives and led the launch of new products and SKUs.
  • Established distribution in over 35 countries across multiple sales channels
  • Directed rapid market growth which saw us feature on the Deloitte Fast 50 fastest-growing companies for two consecutive years between 2018 (7th) and 2019 (11th)
  • Successfully acquired another New Zealand wine brand, resulting in a new domestic market share and increased brand/company recognition.
  • Successfully acquired a Recognised Seasonal Workers (RSE) company with a staff of 45. This drastically streamlined vineyard operations, increased efficiency, and reduced overall costs while bringing in a new and very profitable revenue stream.
  • Innovation included being New Zealand's first winery to put wine in a can.
