Bio

  • Growing up in England, Belinda completed her education with an extensive focus on the sciences and attended the North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) to complete her ‘A’ levels where all the disciplines were offered. She spent the majority of her free time training and competing in Gymnastics at a National level until the age of 18 and developed an enduring relationship with Osteopathy through injury, sprains and strains.
  • On leaving college, Belinda joined a cohort of research interns with Beecham Pharmaceuticals, working on the development and clinical trials of proprietary medicines and products, while completing a Chemistry degree through the University of London.
  • In 1981, disillusioned with the research and development world, Belinda found an article in the Daily Telegraph entitled ‘Could it be your feet‘ which changed her life, she abandoned the journey to medicine and became an Osteopath, a path she has remained dedicated to for the last 35 plus years.
  • Belinda has maintained a love of sport and exercise bred into her from the age of 4, competing in Triathlon in National UK teams, Ski racing, and windsurf racing in the summer before focussing on Marathon and Ultra running and eventually having a family. She remains a runner, ocean swimmer and Mountain Biker, variously seen competing at Mountain Bike stage races, World Masters Games, and any local events she can find when not broken.
  • Through a long career of nearly 40 years, treating 10’s of thousands of patients, she has developed extensive knowledge of the effective, good, bad and worthless aspects of Osteopathy, embracing the holistic, or biopsychosocial aspects of every one of those patients.
  • She writes peer group papers on topics that interest her or her peers, to collate all the latest cross-disciplinary research and how to apply this to patients to better access every possible means to effect the greatest outcome possible for them.
  • Belinda would like to be able to share this knowledge with more than just those close to her and while working as a clinical tutor gave her this facility, the sad demise of the Unitec course has limited broader audiences.
  • Belinda remains dedicated to passing on knowledge as requested and the facility to do so.
