Summary

For all my life I've had an infatuation with being outside and helping our world. Anything to do with the beauty of our environment and I'm sold. I am 24 years old and am currently on seasonal break as a Ranger where I contribute as Kaitiaki of our beautiful country. I strive on being hard working and once I have my mind set on something, it will be completed. I have been surrounded by the bush, oceans, farmland, horses etc my whole life and from this it has made me someone who is passionate about all aspects of our natural world. I have also gained valuable experience in the world of making coffees that have increased my skill set including customer service, POS experience and effective time management.

Volunteer Experience

  • GREAT BARRIER ISLAND, 2018, While here, a group of us worked/tramped up ridge lines to track clear for the rat trap lines and resetting the rat traps (while also clearing what is there). We also took data to help the rangers on the island get a better look and understanding of what is out there.
  • MCLAREN FALLS, 2018, Among other tracks that we cleared, this one was catered for more public use and public display. While here we cleared overgrown tracks and drainage systems. We monitored the track over a couple of days and saw where we could improve.
  • CLEAN UP WAIHI, 2019 & 2020, While living in Waihi, I would often go along to the local park and spend hours with a large group of us going around and picking up rubbish. I did this a couple times while living there and was beginning to go to town meetings where we could discuss alternatives to what could be done better in the community.
  • OTANEWAINUKU, 2021, This is a current programme being run in Otanewainuku where we focus on trapping and checking these. Since due to health reasons, I haven't been able to get out as much but am working towards and with an experienced member of the group to get my own trap line.
