I'm originally from Drury Auckland, growing up on a 10 acre Lifestyle Block. Chores in between busy schooling and sporting activities included caring for our animals, cutting firewood, helping with large garden tidying. The best of a bit of rural but with the opportunities of a large city on your back doorstep.
In year 9. I attend Sacred Heart College as a boarding student. Living independently during the week within a supportive brotherhood environment taught me many skills about self motivation and management. How to live and be considerate and aware of others needs, strengthening interpersonal skills.
I come from a large extended whānau hailing from the Hokianga in Northland NZ. We connect back often through Tangihanga, and many different Celebrations. Growing up I was fortunate to have the best summer holidays camping by our river, a special place where oral story telling of this summer tradition goes back to six generations. Days spent learning from elders to entertaining young cousins as my older cousins did for me. Many great memories of exploring the hills, out the beach, round the campfire, helping on Marae. All life strengthening experiences, helping to form who I am so far.
I'm relishing this next phase in my life shifting cities, experiencing all that a new part of the country has to offer and studying at University of Canterbury!
