Worked on renovations like reclads and contract maintenance jobs at Brink’s and Burger King.
Worked on a commercial site for a retirement home in a team managing and building role. I managed 5 other workers to set up perimeters and other labouring jobs around the site, and built a few of the smaller structures such as shelving, steps, slabs.
Worked on full builds alongside an almost qualified builder. Built 1 full house from scratch with the help of one other builder.
I went off into contracting and found my own jobs. I built a few decks, renovated some shops and any other work which didn’t require council consent. This is when I stopped signing off things in my apprenticeship, although I did keep learning much more about the job. Having to price up jobs, write plans, figure out which materials and quantities gave me some insight on the bigger picture of a work site.
Mainly renovation work, but also got to work on a few decks, pergolas and extensions. I worked as an apprentice alongside the owner of the company who is a qualified builder as the only employee of the company. I learnt to take on responsibility, manage materials and jobs on my own while working here.
