Clara Ampe

Providing high-level administrative support to the Head of Natural Sciences and Co-Director of Te Mana o Rangitahua, a five year research programme, co-led by Ngati Kuri and Auckland Museum focusing on the biodiversity and ecosystems of Rangitahua/Kermadec Islands, founded upon kaupapa Maori principles and working to make explicit the synergies between matauranga Maori and scientific knowledge.

Expedition Coordination

• Coordinating 8 scientific expeditions (2022–2025) to Rangitahua/Kermadec Islands for teams of 8–15 researchers.
• Overseeing all logistics including travel, procurement, and field support.
• Managing expedition budgets up to $250k
• Ensuring delivery of mission objectives in remote conditions, resolving real-time issues on site.

Administration Support

• Managing procurement, travel logistics, up-to-date training and certificates for a team of 25.
• Coordinating internal and external events
• Maintaining confidentiality and security of sensitive documentation
• Demonstrating strong digital proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and museum systems
• Cultivating relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders

• Leading 15+ hosts daily to ensure the smooth running of daily operations including morning briefing, rosters, cash-up, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Streamlining processes and procedures such as end of day reporting, lost children, or unsolicited donation.
• Developed training resources used by 30+ hosts for temporary exhibitions
• Driving sales of membership packages, exhibitions and experiences tickets
• Upholding the values of manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga towards visitors, taonga and colleagues.

• Creating personalized car and camper van bookings across New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
• Processing 50–80 inquiries daily across phone, email, and live chat.
• Supporting the Operations Team with French-speaking customers, improving turnaround time for complex bookings.
• Built rapport with customers and assessed needs to make product recommendations and upsell.
• Achieved or exceeded company-defined sales quotas.

• Delivering gallery interpretation and safety monitoring to 2,000+ daily visitors at the Musée du Louvre and Palais Galliera.
• Informing guests in English and French on exhibitions, collection highlights, and security protocols.
