I am ideally applying for a Contract Milking Position with the potential to progress into share-milking over the seasons near Taupo. Ideally a farm in the range of 400-1000 cows, where I can have a work life balance yet run a successful operation for both mine and your business. Proven leader in dairy farm management with a track record of enhancing farm productivity and livestock health, evidenced by a significant role at M Perrott Holdings. Skilled in staff development and leveraging technology for farm efficiency. I believe I’m ready to go contract milking and grow both mine and your business. Although I’m at a young age, I believe I’ve learnt a lot from family and my employers in the industry that have put me in a position to have a crack at contract milking. Hope to hear from you otherwise goodluck on your search for a contract milker, sounds a nice operation you guys have.
Cheers
I am 2ic on this farm with 3 staff below me and the sharemilker who floats around on the farm. We work for a corporate so see the consultant once a month. I am responsible for the day to day runnings of the farm. I am responsible for and confident in:
- Livestock health (including fixing lame cows)
- Pasture Management
- Staff Delegating/ Training and Management
- Operating/ Maintaining Machinery
- Working with Minda, Halo and Cow Manager to maximise on farm results
- Picking/ recognising heats during mating
- Meeting feed demand
- Assisting the sharemilking in rearing the young stock on runoff and calves
We have averaged about 490 KgMS a cow since I’ve been here and have a relatively low SCC so I like to I’ve had the right training to know how to manage these things. There is a potential contract milking position here in 1-2 seasons but am feeling ready and confident to go contract milking now.
I moved into this role when I finished school and was full time through mating and calving. I left due to heading overseas to play sport for a few months. I have been fortunate to grip up on and be involved in the dairy farm life since a little fella so I managed to come into this role and pickup some good skills that I use today. I will have an excellent reference from this employer. This was a 720 cow farm through a 44ashb with 4 of us on farm
This was a part time job I had on the neighbours 1000 cow dairy farm through a 50 ashb that I did out side of school for a couple season during the busy periods. I learnt all the basics of milking and plant systems.
