Dynamic Support Worker at SILC with a proven track record in fostering community connections and enhancing client well-being. Skilled in domestic tasks and relationship building, I creatively empower individuals to navigate their environments, advocate for their needs, and achieve personal growth, ensuring they live fulfilling lives.
As a community support worker my role included but wasn't limited to,
~ connecting people being supported to their community.
This could be anything from attending a club,, temple/ church, family occasion, shopping or random events of interest to the client ie: cinema, a concert, festival or community event.
Cimmunity can also mean supporting people to hospital and specialist appts especially if it's a regular part of their life.
Walking and/or sight seeing to understand geographically there town and community well.
Supporting people to use the local buses and taxis to broaden their community scope, (also with the intention to enhance their sence of wellbeing.)
Prompting and encouraging while out, so to know where stops and places are.
Delivered consistent teaching and coaching to foster effective home and self-care habits.
As well as this, my role included building confidence in the person being supported so they could extend their cababilities and strive to do more.
Working alongside with cooking and food preparations in their home.
Taking time to broaden their understanding of letters and any mail they receive and responding appropriately.
Sitting with and having general conversations with a client is always an integral part of this role to keep the established relationship open ,encouraging confidence and trust.
Advocating for the person we support is also an important role we play where recognizing injustices or unwanted attention can be apparent.
Moving the person we support forward in positive momentum and living their best life being front and centre of this job description.
