Summary

A mechanical design engineer by trade I'm excited to be taking a career break to travel and explore New Zealand to pursue my interests in outdoor sports. Having discovered Queenstown has it all from rock climbing, hiking and kayaking in summer to snowboarding and skiing in winter I'm motivated to stay here for at least the remainder of my current visa with the possibility of extending additional years.

Work History

Mechanical Design Engineer

Mercedes AMG HPP
04.2019 - 07.2023
  • Working initially as a mechanical design engineer within the AMG One powertrain team, specifically on electric motor and turbocharger design, my role included finding innovative design solutions to achieve the mass and performance targets of the car while meeting the condensed timing plan for the project. This required attention to detail, efficient time management, and clear effective communication with the wider team.
  • From February 2022 I moved to the Formula one team to a simulation engineering role which provides guidance to designers on the effectiveness of proposed changes. As well as technical depth of knowledge confidence in design direction was critical in convincing team leaders and senior engineers of the best path forward.
  • Within the simulation engineering team I also volunteered to mentor new colleague on various simulation practices to build team cohesion and encourage support where possible to improve the capability of our department.

  • Through research and development activities in this role I was able to file a patent for an exhaust system component to improve turbocharger efficiency (WO2020039210A1).
