Summary

Kia ora koutou, I have enjoyed a long 43-year career in nursing commencing as a new student nurse at Whangarei Hospital back in 1981 after I completed secondary schooling from Bream Bay College. Nursing has been my life, and I have always strived to be the best nurse I can in the positions that I have held. I have been fortunate to have spent half of my career in clinical practice caring for patients mainly in surgical nursing and the other half of my career in nursing education, teaching and preparing our future nursing workforce. The reason I chose nursing as my career is the reason why I would like to complete my career working back in clinical practice, and that is to be at the bedside providing the best nursing care I can to patients.
