07/2024, 10/2024, Manukau Supa Clinic, DEU Level 2 (12 weeks).

I completed my pre-registration placement in general surgery. I have gained skills in: Patient monitoring: regular assessment and monitoring of patients’ vital signs to ensure stability and detect any signs of complications after surgery and post-operative care. Pain management: administered pain medications and utilised non-pharmacological methods to manage patients pain effectively. - Wound care: provided meticulous wound care, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection. - Patient education: educating patients and their families on post-operative cares, medication management, and activity restrictions. - Documentation: maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring all care provided was thoroughly documented and keeping them confidential. - Emergency Response: recognized and respond promptly to any signs of patient deterioration, escalating care as needed.

02/2024, 03/2024, Diabetes Service-Counties Manukau (5 weeks),

During my placement here, I gained valuable experience in understanding the various roles and responsibilities involved in providing care for outpatients while working the Diabetes Nurse Specialist (DNS). - Monitoring and follow-up: I participated in regular follow-ups to monitor patients progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and provide ongoing support. - Education and complications: I provide educations to patients about the potential complications of diabetes and the importance of regular check-ups and preventive measures.

10/2023, 11/2023, Youth and Adolescence Service Whirinaki (5 weeks),

During my time at Whirinaki, I had the opportunity to work with children and youth aged 4 to 18. I spend most of my placement working with the eating disorder team of nurses and I gained experience of working with the young children coming in having mental health concerns. - Assessment and Treatment: I conducted thorough assessments to understand each patients’ unique needs and collaborated with the MDT to develop individualised treatment plans. This included medical, psychological, and nutritional support.

05/2023, 06/2023, National Burns Centre- Middlemore Hospital (MMH- 5 weeks)

My placement here was very challenging and rewarding. I had the privilege to look after patients with severe burn injuries. My responsibilities included comprehensive wound care, managing pain, and monitoring for signs of infection or complications. One of the most critical aspects of my role was supporting patients and their families emotionally and psychologically, as burn injuries can be incredibly traumatic. I provided education on wound care, rehabilitation, and the importance of mental health support during the recovery process.

11/2022, 12/2022, General Medicine Ward 66- Auckland District Health Board (ADHB- 2 weeks)

This was my initial experience in clinical placement as a student nurse. Every task I perform requires the guidance and oversight of my nurse preceptor. I gained practical experience in nursing by performing tasks such as monitoring vital signs, establishing a connection with patients, giving medications, reviewing electronic and written records, and adhering to my professional boundaries to prioritise patient well-being and safety. I was developing and growing more self-assured during my time here for two weeks.
