Kia Ora my name is Niamh Pentecost, my personal aspirations and objectives I hope to achieve in my future nursing career are to hopefully work in an environment that exposes me to opportunities that push, and embrace my learning each and every day. I aspire to be a dedicated, hardworking, and resilient registered nurse that continues to be my patients best advocate. One day I aspire to have found an area of work that I not only love but strive to reach excellence and hopefully a leadership role in. I have a love for supporting and caring for people, and creating therapeutic relationships with my patients and their whanau. I am a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with a progressing career history in direct patient care and care coordination, in a fast-paced environment. Able to remain calm under pressure and skillfully handle difficult and high-stress situations. Consistently developing strong relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare members through empathetic communication and respectful attitude, and interprofessional communication.

I stride myself on having clear, concise professional communication skills that also have tones of empathy, it enables my patient to have full understanding and knowledge regarding their care, and health and establishes a sense of trust and rapport

I ensure to incorporate and respect all my patients especially Maori patients identity, values, beliefs, goals and wishes throughout my practice I endeavour to provide optimum care which my patients hauora is protected and maintained
IV cannulation:
I am IV cannula trained where I am able to successfully and safely cannulate patients for IV medication
Time Management:
Working in a high acuity, fast passed, busy ward has enhanced my time management skills as I am able to work efficiently and effectively creating precise plans and schedules to ensure my patients are gaining all their cares and needs adhered to within my shift but also done in a way effective and routine way
Establishing therapeutic relationships:
As a nurse I work hard to develop a trusting and respected relationship with patients for the foundation of creating a supporting, and safe environment for them I help create a sense of trust where the patient feels more comfortable discussing any concerns, or other important information that could improve the patient's care/treatment and maintain the patient's safety
