  • Provided direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients including assessments, treatments, medications and documentation of care. Within this ward areas of specialty were; General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, ENT and Medical overflow. When ICU was full, the Surgical Ward would also care for High-dependency patients. This has provided me with a wide range of skills and enabled me to:
  • provide specialized care for patients requiring continuous and comprehensive observation and acute trauma patients with multitudes of injuries.
  • Implement pre, intra- and post-care, evaluating response to clinical interventions with progression toward discharge.
  • Instruct patients and families in health promotion activities such as proper nutrition, wound care and disease prevention.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures while providing quality patient centered care.
  • Develop positive relationships with patients to ensure quality holistic care was provided throughout the hospital stay.

  • Throughout my university holidays I had this job where I took on the responsibility of performing data entry of customer information from across the South Island into the tagging system database.
  • I had to adapt and be ready for anything, including early mornings, long trips away and working in different quality yards – making do with what we had
  • I developed strong professional rapport with vendors and clients and learnt how to adapt to different working situations whilst also trouble-shooting when things were not going correctly.

  • In this job I took on the responsibility of caring for the children of three families each week during one Summer Holiday
  • This allowed me to gain a positive relationship with each family over the summer
  • I gained the parents trust so they were comfortable and confident in my abilities to care for their children
  • This job included, pick up and drops off to pre-school/school, cooking meals and transporting and accompanying them to swimming lessons
  • Caring for multiple families meant adapting to their schedules and working for 12 hours some days.

Hobbies and Interests

  • Sport has always been an important aspect of my life and has allowed me to challenge myself both mentally and physically. Throughout school I participated in touch, rugby, trapshooting, tennis, netball and basketball. During this I was able to captain the Touch Rugby team and XV Rugby team to success whilst also competing in trapshooting, gaining a national title. This enabled me to learn important skills such as commitment, discipline, perseverance, organisation and working in a team environment.
  • Since becoming Registered I have continued playing competitive Netball and Touch Rugby which are both a real passion of mine and reflect many qualities and skills that my job has.
  • I appreciate and value the time spent with family and friends. Often going to the lakes in summer for weekends. I enjoy helping out in the community, often helping the local High School with sport coaching.
