Summary

I am a people centric Recruitment Partner with over 16 years' experience within external and internal recruitment roles; most recently I have been working in a regulatory environment as a Senior Advisor. I am driven by working in roles which serve a greater purpose in our communities; this focus allows me to bring my best self to work. Overarching my purpose is to ensure we attract and build the right organisational talent which most closely aligns and fits with organisational priorities without losing sight of having a Te ao Māori approach and looking after the people we already have. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources which has given me the skills and knowledge to be operationally adept within an organisation as well as quickly understand and contribute to strategic outcomes of an organisation.

Work History

Senior Recruitment Advisor

Te Tari Pūreke, Firearms Safety Authority – NZ Police Auckland
03.2023 - Current
  • National delivery of end-to-end recruitment of all roles from project volume recruitment through to talent sourcing Senior Managers. From my second week in my role, I took over the Firearms Registry Project. I managed (along with team support) to fill all 80 vacancies with a May 2023 onboarding date. This was an achievement which was not expected by the Executive team. I am pleased to say the over 50% of these hires are still in the registry or have been promoted internally. I have also solely built the entirety of the Firearms Mountain Safety Council in time for its go live date of Jun 2025 within 8 weeks.
  • Taking extensive briefs to ensure a successful hiring process (foundation of any good hiring process)
  • Working within various sourcing channels – LinkedIn Recruiter, Seek Talent Search, Job Boards, Referral programs, word of mouth (networks), social media, existing pipeline of applicants and from within existing employees – to date 45% of our vacancies have been filled via promotion of existing staff.
  • Developed People Reporting Analytics and Insights (did not exist prior to me starting) – submitted to ELT through monthly Corporate Reports. This included, exit surveying, pulse checks of staff, churn data, people demographics, policy changes and market trends and insights.
  • Ability to work across many roles, projects, and deliverables at any one time.
  • Partnering and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, quickly building trust and confidence in my abilities through expert advice, coaching and strong communication and listening skills.
  • Developed a candidate care strategy along with my manager and team – focused on Te Ao Māori, communication, timely and comprehensive feedback, managing expectations and a smooth onboarding process.
  • Ensure talent sourcing strategies align with organisational priorities and regulatory objectives.
  • Working with HR and Hiring Managers on the rewrites of Position Descriptions (PDs) – Creating new PDs from scratch for new roles, correcting historical errors in PDs, ensuring key accountabilities required are a true reflection of the current roles. Currently we are updating all PDs to include our new Performance framework - Indicators of Success.
  • Updating advertising templates to reflect our transition from an establishing regulator into being an established regulatory agency.
  • Driving and placement of ABR applicants into current vacancies through a skills matching process with our Hiring Managers.
  • Contribute and advise Hiring Manager on remuneration reviews (outside of policy) when placing candidates into roles.
  • Collaboration across people groups – HR Operations, HR Partners, WFM, payroll, wellness advisors, learning and development. NZ Police policy writers, legal, NZ Police recruitment teams and Organisational Management teams.
  • Subject Matter expert on our Collective Employment Agreements and any rewrites.
  • Streamlining processes and Improvements– being agile and flexing to changing legislations, policies, and commissioners' priorities. Taking stock of processes, reflecting on what is working well for us and what potentially needs reviewing.
  • Presenting in front of ELT and other staff.
  • Acting up as the Recruitment Manager in the managers absence – leadership, coaching, mentoring, team wellness.
  • External – agency partners, pre employment check partners- referencing, vetting, drug and alcohol testing
  • Working within many ATS to support a streamlined recruitment and candidate management process.
