  • Operated 2 main harbour tugs as part of a 2-man crew
  • Damen 2411 (2007), and a locally-built ASD tug (2001)
  • Caterpillar 3516 V-16 main propulsion with Azimuth Drive
  • Responsible for Engine and Deckhand role
  • Required troubleshooting under pressure occasionally
  • Carried out planned maintenance not just on the two main tugs, but also on the 3 conventional twin screw workboats and the pilot boat
  • Also trained in the deckhand role aboard previous vessels
  • Reported to Senior Engineer within the company and the Marine Manager

  • Marine Engineer aboard a number of vessels throughout my time with the company, generally responsible for an engine room watch for 24 hours (unmanned ER at night). I had main responsibility for waste, steam, and fuel systems as a junior engineer. this included FO/LO purifier maintenance, sewage system monitoring, boiler maintenance and water testing, and assisting other members of the engineering department with their tasks such as main engine work, deck machinery, lifeboat/rescue boat, etc. If it turns, pumps, leaks, or squeaks, I'd be looking after it.
  • 8745GT Cement Carrier - coastal. Wartsila slow speed 2-stroke with Warsila 4-stroke generators x4. Auxiliary Steam system and specialised cargo moving equipment.
  • 1100TEU Container ship - coastal, Medium speed Wartsila 4 stroke with Thermal oil system
  • 1740TEU Container ship - coastal. Slow speed MAN/B&W 2-stroke with MAN 4-stroke 1500KW Generators x3. Auxiliary steam system
  • 30,000DWT general cargo ship - international. Slow speed Wartsila 2-stroke and 4-stroke Wartsila 4-stroke generators x3 Auxiliary steam system. I was on this vessel during the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic (2019-2020)
