I have completed my fourth placement year for my Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree at PathLab Bay of Plenty in 2024. During this year, I undertook Histology and Haematology as my two core subjects. I gained valuable understanding and experience with digital laboratory equipment, and I also recognized the importance of a streamlined workflow in the laboratory. Additionally, I have come to understand the ethical responsibilities that a scientist must uphold. Furthermore, while undertaking my placement, i was also offered a part-time job at PathLab as a scientist assistant at Histology Department, which helped me to further acknowledged the workflow and the importance of a medical laboratory.
