• 1. Operational & Farm Management
  Daily Operations: Managing all day-to-day tasks including twice-daily milking, animal feeding, and shifting cows.
  Pasture Management: Conducting pasture walks, monitoring growth, and making decisions on grazing and feed allocation.
  Animal Health: Monitoring the herd for illness (e.g., mastitis, lameness), administering treatments, and ensuring high animal welfare standards.
  Environmental Compliance: Managing effluent systems, water usage, and ensuring the farm meets regional council environmental regulations.
  Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate herd data (NAIT,Minda , sense hub), reproductive records, and general farm activity logs.
  2. Business & Financial Responsibilities
  Staffing: Recruiting, managing, and paying for all farm labor, including relief milkers.
  Cost Management: Covering agreed operating expenses such as:
  Dairy shed costs (detergents, rubberware, milk filters).
  Electricity and water pump costs.
  Vehicle and machinery maintenance, including fuel and insurance.
  Administrative Tasks: Handling own ACC, business insurance, accounting fees, and GST/tax obligations.
  Equipment Provision: providing own tools and vehicles (e.g., motorbikes, quads , tools ).
  3. Compliance & Safety
  Health & Safety: Developing and enforcing on-farm safety protocols for myself and the staff.
  Milk Quality: Ensuring the milking plant is kept clean to meet food hygiene and dairy company quality standards

Animal & Herd Management
Health: Monitor and treat sick cows, manage vaccinations, ensure general welfare, and handle lameness.
Breeding/Calving: Implement breeding programs, manage heat detection, oversee calving, and supervise calf rearing.
Feeding: Plan and manage feed rations, calculate pasture needs, and operate feeding equipment.
Operations & Production
Milking: Supervise efficient and hygienic milking, monitor milk quality, and maintain the dairy shed.
Pasture/Environment: Manage pasture rotation, control weeds, maintain effluent systems, and ensure environmental compliance.
Machinery/Maintenance: Oversee upkeep of farm vehicles, equipment, and facilities (fencing, irrigation).
Staff & Administration
Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise farm staff, fostering a positive work environment.
Financials: Manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial targets are met.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records (health, production, financial) and report to owners.
Strategic Responsibilities
Planning: Develop farm policies and plans to meet production goals.
Efficiency: Identify and act on opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to milk quality standards, company requirements, and health & safety regulations.
