Githmi is a personable, enthusiastic, and solution-driven individual in the Wellington Transport Infrastructure and Road Safety Team. She continuously seeks opportunities to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities through her effective communication, adaptability and attention to detail. Githmi is an individual who takes pride in her ability to connect with colleagues of varying backgrounds to cultivate an inclusive environment. Her efforts in developing strong relationships allow her to consult and collaborate when faced with uncharted issues.
Githmi has developed her planning, leadership, and people management skills by providing project management support on the Northern Kenepuru Area and Raiha Roundabout Projects. Githmi has further developed her project and people management skills by taking the lead role in managing the Papakowhai Shared Use Path. Githmi led a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the detailed design package and contract documents allowing the client to tender within 5 months of inception.
Githmi has developed her critical thinking skills and can question standards versus safety to apply appropriate solutions to difficult problems. During her time at WSP, Githmi has applied strong written and verbal communication to provide input and prepare road safety audits, lead safety investigations, provide designs, and investigate speed management.
Githmi is an integral member of the TG Central Branch Committee organising industry events and providing opportunities for her peers to network with others across a variety of transportation sub-sectors.
Githmi was part of a group of graduates who were seconded to the Hutt City Council to provide support in the approval process of resource consent applications for developments. During this period, Githmi demonstrated her ability to take the initiative to learn new processes and maintain client satisfaction. This was especially evident as Hutt City Council formally requested Githmi to continue providing her support whilst the remainder of the team was requested to stop their support in processing applications.
Githmi has recently been involved in developing the Road Safety Team helping interview candidates for the summer internship positions. She has provided support for internal strategies such as the Speed to Construction project where she helped explore processes and tools to get to the construction faster. Githmi has also assisted in maintaining strong client relations to identify opportunities for new work.
