I consider myself an all rounder and have associated in areas outside of work.
Since arriving in New Zealand 2008,I have done 5 sets of PDRP, with the final one being at the Expert level. This means that I had preceptees, and have quite a few presentations under my belt over the last ten years.
My article on smoke evacuation in operating theatres and it's comparative studies on its Policies was published in May 2016 edition of a peri-operative journal, The Dissector.
It was later peer reviewed in the medical platform for articles, PubMed. The studies helped with the changes made in the policies for the "new " Waipapa hospital to include the need of using the smoke evac diathermy during surgery.
In 2008, I was invited by the board of directors from CDHB to present 'Aftermath and Effects of volunteering in catastrophic event,' with my experience in volunteering post tsunami. This was to help outline the plan for our own DHB policies.
I have been a very active member of the Infection Control Team over the past 12 years . The last nine years have seen me as a liaison nurse between the cleaning manager and our theatre staff and managers . This includes undertaking two cleaning audits a month and ensuring notification and reassessing of problem issues in cleaning of the theatres in both Christchurch Public as well as Christchurch Women's.
