Throughout my studies, I developed core skills across various laboratory disciplines and continue to build on these through professional practice. Prepared and analysed tissue samples for microscopic examination by pathologists, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensured high standards in specimen processing, staining, and quality control in accordance with the laboratory protocols and accreditation standards.

  • Competent in daybooking, specimen cut-up, embedding, microtomy, special stainining techniques, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and in specimen send-outs.
  • Operated and maintained laboratory equipment including rotary microtomes, embedding centres, and automated strainers.
  • Prepared high-quality histological slides with accurate labelling and documentation, supporting timely and accurate diagnosis by pathologist.

Pathlab Rotorua - Biochemistry


  • Performed the following tasks under supervision: Daily and weekly analyser maintenance, blood gases, osmolarity, result interpretation, and validation with the main emphasise on Quality assurance and Quality Control.


  • Ensured all specimens were correctly labelled and appropriate tests were performed in accordance with the laboratory protocols


Pathlab Bay of Plenty - Microbiology


  • Followed the standard operating procedures at Pathlab Bay of Plenty and performed the following basic microbiology laboratory tasks under supervision


  • Culturing and aseptic techniques referring to specimen plate inoculation, use of pipette aseptically, use of biohazard cabinets.


  • Identification of potential pathogens using microscopy, biochemical testing, gram staining, culture morphology, Maldi-Tof and Molecular genetics PCR based system - BD max analyser.


  • Antimicrobial susceptibility testing - Disc Diffusion method and use of Phoenix Panel system based on broth dilution method.
