I have held a variety of positions as a Registered Nurse. In my current role as a community cancer support nurse specialist with The Cancer Society, I assist patients and their families in their homes as they undergo treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, or a combination of these). Going into their homes, conducting assessments, liaising with multi-disicplinary teams and other community/charity services. As part of this I have also been apart of the Kia Ora e te Iwi programme which is a patient led initiative where whānau around Auckland are able to ask questions about cancer and the supports that are available to them. This provides Māori and pacifica whānau the oppourtunity to make informed desicions about their treatment. As a practise nurse for Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki, I covered the Coromandel peninsula's rural clinics, often nurse led clinics. During this time I completed my independent vaccinators course, Cervical smear taking course, Rangiparauri mental health training as well as cold chain training. I was also employed by Te Wharekura o Manaia as a school-based nurse, where I oversaw a clinic that was held once a week at the kura.
