Initially entered this job as a checkout operator, which included interacting with customers, ensuring their products were entered correctly and cash handling.

After a time I was trained to be a checkout supervisor. My roles then grew to include having good time management, entering the days floats and also cashing them up at the end of the night, over seeing and organising staff break times, sorting out customers complaints and inquiries, and over seeing the sale of restricted goods.

When I was 21 I was then sent to gain my LCQ certificate and duty mangers certificate and was then able to manage the store. This included making sure all departments were running smoothly with adequate staff, complete cash up of store at night, and handling all incidents within the store.

Within this time I was trained in the online department, which included picking and organising customers online orders accurately and on time.

I was then approached by my manager at the time and asked to take on the Assistant Customer Services Managers role for a time. This role included weekly rostering, complete staff management, completing weekly reports, organising in store promotions, on top of a general checkout supervisor role.

I have since stepped down from that position and am now a checkout supervisor and also work in the cash office on certain mornings, which requires staff confidentiality, major cash handling, setting up the cash floats for the checkouts for the days, ensuring all charge account receipts are collected, and entering staff wages correctly.

• Distributed papers in various weather conditions during early morning Saturdays and after school in the afternoons. This was on a time frame depending on how many papers were to be delivered. Had to be vigilant in checking in any changes of delivery pattern or houses no longer requiring delivery.
