In container services, the job consists of loading and discharging cargo to and from container ships with cranes, trucks and heavy machinery. Having staff on the wharf are trained to provide confirmation and support for crane drivers when loading and discharging cargo with the use of hand signals and radio contact. Lashers are provided with a plan for the onboard labour to assemble and disassemble lashing bars for discharge and load of containers in bays according to the plan.
