Teaching

Currently I work as a clinical teacher/educator/lecturer to various levels of nursing students in clinical or classroom environment. The role requires a passion for nursing and nursing education. I contribute to undergraduate and/or postgraduate education and research.

Although the role is primarily based within entry level Bachelor of Nursing students, there has also been opportunity to teach in other nursing and health related programmes from foundation level to postgraduate.

Previously in the clinical manager role of ten years included leadership skills ensuring high level of quality care. Areas of expertise include provision of clinical and operational leadership to RNs and care staff to adhere to healthcare policies, procedures and contractual requirements. Recruitment of staff, education, training and mentoring into new positions have been a large part of the position.

Management

For the last 10 years I have had excellent results and satisfaction with all aspects of rest home/hospital and Dementia care in a 97 bedded facility. I have learned and utilized several new ways to make everything happen in a safe, affordable and timely manner. I have worked to deadlines and produced excellent results with both physical and documented work. With many years of nursing experience in various aspects of nursing, helps tremendously day-to-day decision making and best results for consumers and all involved.

Accreditation

Completing internal audit requirements and correcting and improving as a habit to be always meeting contractual and Ministry of Health requirements. Preparedness, performing and assisting in external spot/surveillance and recertification audits and achieving excellent results.

Being able to speak a few languages and with a strong cultural background, I can understand various needs of clients and multicultural staff. Effective at improving revenue, team productivity and policies to keep the facility operating at a sustainable and profitable level.
