August 2024 - October 2024

I developed skills in performing paediatric assessments, including vital signs and growth measurements, and administered medications according to protocols. I effectively communicated with children and their families, explaining procedures and providing emotional support during stressful situations. I contributed to the development of care plans for conditions such as asthma and diabetes, and collaborated with doctors and allied health professionals to implement these plans.

Capital & Coast DHB, Ward 6 South – Regional Heart & Lung Unit (4 Weeks)
April 2024 - May 2024

I gained experience in monitoring cardiovascular patients, including performing ECGs, assessing heart rhythms, and administering medication for conditions such as heart failure and arrhythmias. I actively participate in pre- and post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgeries, including wound care, chest drains, and monitoring for complications.

Bupa Whitby Care Home – Hospital Ward (2 Weeks) March 2024

I developed skills in managing the healthcare needs of elderly residents, including administering medications, wound care, and monitoring chronic conditions. I communicated and collaborated with other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs.

Capital & Coast DHB, Te Wao Nui – Kowhai Ward (3 weeks) October 2023 - November 2023

I gained experience in pre- and post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs and managing pain for young patients while providing clear explanations and emotional support to families. During my time in the oncology ward, I managed chemotherapy side effects, supported patients through complex treatment regimens, and coordinated care with oncologists.

I developed skills in managing patients with digestive disorders, including assisting in endoscopies and colonoscopies and administering medications. I also participated in patient education regarding dietary modifications and explanations of procedures.

Capital & Coast DHB, Tane Mahuta Unit – Regional Rehabilitation Services (3 Weeks) May 2023 - June 2023

I gained experience in supporting patients with mental health conditions through therapeutic interventions and behaviour management strategies. I developed skills in conducting mental health assessments and collaborating with multidisciplinary team to create individualized care plans.

Summerset on the Coast, Paraparaumu – Hospital Ward (3 Weeks) March 2023

I focused on providing holistic care to elderly residents, including assistance with daily living activities, medication management, and monitoring for signs of deterioration. I developed strong relationships with residents, offering emotional support and ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Capital & Coast DHB, Kenepuru Hospital - Ward 7 Surgical Unit  (1 Week) September 2022

I gained hands-on experience in pre- and post-operative care, including preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs, managing post-operative pain, and wound care. I developed a strong understanding of aseptic techniques and the importance of infection control in the surgical environment.
